Styles

The wood fence collection includes a selection of styles including full privacy, semi-privacy, and decorative. Along with these popular fence styles, we also offer fully customized fences as well.

All styles come in a variety of heights, with 6ft being the most common for privacy and semi private designs. Decorative fences usually range from 3’ft – 5’ft high

Our most common designs are:

The Regal –The boards overlap on top of each other on one side of the rail to offer full privacy.

The Estate – The boards are on each side of the rail and commonly known as “good neighbor fence” or “board on board” and offer some privacy but can be seen through on an angle.

The Jasper – The boards are placed side by side of the rail to offer full privacy, also known as board one side.

The Horizon – The boards are placed horizontally to the grade offer a unique look and may be built as full privacy or with gaps to offer a semi-private fence.

The above styles are related to the boarding patterns. Other tops or designs can be added to change the appearance of the fence, such as lattices, I beams, scallops or iron lattices.

Installation

Buying a wood fence should be a good experience!

A fence should last 25 -30 years if installed properly. Make the right choice and choose Suburban Fence. We will install your fence without taking shortcuts to ensure that you have a long lasting wood fence that is built right.

As with any fence, the most important and foundational component is the post. You can choose between a 4×4 post and a 6×6 post; however the difference between them is night and day. Based on structure, the 4×4 posts may shake and wobble whereas the 6×6 posts are firm and strong. During our professional consultation, we will provide you with our option on which posts you should use – based on the fence location, tree blockage, wind load area, and fence design.

Most of our competition will try to compromise the materials used to make the fence cheaper, but we will educate you on the differences and let you decide based on an informed decision.

For instance, at Suburban, we connect the rails to the posts properly and to the standards of the Ontario Building Code. We do not use brackets instead we use a direct connection. We also use the correct amount of nails to secure the fence together- for each 1 1/2″ of lumber a nail is used and positioned properly to ensure a good connection. This is important especially with pressure treated lumber, which is typically wet and will shrink and warp when the lumber dries out. A proper nailing pattern will help to keep the fence looking good and ensure the longevity of the installation.

Warranty

Fence

Our warranty will cover the structure of the fence such as post footings moving, panels becoming unattached, gates not latching properly for a period of 2 years.

Excluded from this warranty is vandalism, vehicular damage, storm damage, swinging on the gate and normal wear & tear. Wood fence components (fence boards, posts and rails) will weather over time and may possibly produce cracks, splits, warping, and shrinkage. No warranty is offered or implied against these conditions.

Gates

Gates require regular maintenance to remain functional. Suburban Fence will build our gates to perform for many years but any abuse or misuse will cause the gate to fail. Misuse and abuse can be defined as allowing the wind to push the gate, slamming the gate open or closed, children stepping on or riding the gate and holding the gates open for long periods of time.

Maintenance Contract

For a nominal fee Suburban Fence will maintain the functionality, structure and appearance of your wood fence. Please contact us to provide you with a Maintenance Contract Quote.
